Childbirth preparation classes provide education and information for our childbearing families based on their individual needs. Below is a list of classes offered and you can download the
2008 Schedule. Here (provided as a printable .pdf). Please click on the links for more information on each one.
The Five-Week Series
The Five-Week Series is for first-time parents. Each series spans a six-week period. Participants should remember to dress comfortably and bring 2-3 pillows to class.
Classes are held weekly on Monday evenings, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Class size is limited to 12 couples.
Topics include:
Class #1: Stages of Labor and Delivery
Class #2: Labor Preparation
Class #3: C-section/epidural delivery
Class #4: Post-delivery care; Infant Safety/CPR; tour
Class #5: A visit with the pediatrician

The Weekender
This class is a one-day, 8-hour class held on Saturdays. Class size is limited to six couples.
The class is held on one Saturday a month and is 8 hours, lasting from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Class size is limited to six couples.
Topics include:
Labor preparation
Relaxation and breathing
C-section/epidural delivery
Post-delivery care
FEE: $25 per couple

Refresher Class
The Refresher Class is for families having their second or third baby. This class offers a review of the birth process, relaxation and breathing techniques. Participants should remember to dress comfortably and bring 2-3 pillows to class.
Class is held on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Class size is limited to six couples.
FEE: $10 per couple

Breast Feeding Class
The Breast Feeding Class covers breast feeding techniques, getting started with breast feeding, etc. Class meets on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Class size is unlimited.

Sibling Class
The Sibling Class will introduce the sibling to babies and the hospital. The class meets on Saturday morning, 10 to 11 a.m. in our pediatric playroom (third floor of ETMC Tyler). Class size is limited to 7-8 children.

Infant Safety and CPR
This class will include information on creating a safe environment for yor baby as well as infant CPR instruction. Class is held Monday evenings from 6:30-8 p.m.
